Protect your digital pictures
(Geoff Partridge)
When you transfer your pictures from camera to PC, leave
the original pictures on the camera, or card, until you have verified that
the pictures are on the PC and you know which folder they are in.
If possible, back the pictures up to a CD at this stage.
My preference is to use a CD-R rather than a CD-RW disk (same applies to
DVDs) as from experience, as a computer engineer, I have known CD-RW disks
to be prone to corruption or accidental erasure.
Then you can safely delete the images from the camera.
Don't just take pictures to
please the judges(Geoff Partridge)
It is easy to fall into a trap when becoming a member of
a camera club to concentrate on taking photos to enter into competitions,
and to forget to take more general pictures. I have quite a few photos of
traction engine wheels or parts of wheels but not of the whole traction
engine they are part of.
